i4: What is the thing you like most about working in eCommerce?
Nilay: Great diversity, Global scope

i4: Within the eCommerce universe, tell us whom do you know and what would you highlight from them?
Nilay: I would highlight a quote from Doug Stephens: “Don’t Down-size the Store. Right-size the Experience”.

i4: Do you know any eCommerce platform? If yes, which one and what is the best about it?
Nilay: Several platforms are out there including but not limited to Shopify, Tictail, ATG commerce, IBM Websphere, Prestashop, Volusion, and Magento. It being fully open source brings excellent scalable benefits and allows a community to thrive on developing it further.

i4: Regarding the news and changes happened in the last year in the eCommerce universe, can you tell us which ones do you think are the most relevant or interesting.
Nilay: Not any specific but consolidations in eCommerce, large influx of VC investments in Indian eCommerce market, and new niche eCommerce startups have been of the most interest to me.

i4: If you could give an advice to anyone starting an online store, what would it be?
Nilay: Product/market fit
– Understand your shoppers
– Keep it simple for shoppers
– No negative surprises

i4: What could you tell us about the future of your company? Which are your future steps/goals?
Nilay: Klevu, originally a Finnish tech startup, brings a paradigm shift in in-store search for thousands of shops through smart, self-learning, natural language technology. Recently, we have wrapped up Klevu’s smart search into a seamless, easy to integrate Magento extension. Klevu is primarily focusing on building up it’s Magento specific growth and continues to develop next generation search features.

i4: And the tricky question… What do you think about interactiv4?
Nilay: We have just started working with interactiv4 and hope to develop excellent cooperation ahead.
